A worldwide family
Special Olympics began with the vision of Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Since the first International Games in Chicago, USA, in 1968, the movement has spread to millions of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families around the world. Nepal is a proud part of this global family.
Athlete’s Oath
“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
Eunice Kennedy Shriver wrote these words on 20 July 1968, before the first Special Olympics International Games. They remind us that effort, courage, and doing one’s personal best are the true measures of success.
Special Olympics offers more than 30 Olympic-type sports worldwide. National programs choose which sports to run based on local facilities, coaching, and athlete interest. See Our Programs for how Special Olympics Nepal works in Nepal.
