Special Olympics Nepal

Our History

Special Olympics Nepal began in 1992 to create a place where people with intellectual disabilities are accepted with respect and celebration.

1992 to present

Special Olympics Nepal’s journey began in 1992. Just as the world was beginning to recognize the importance of inclusive sports, a few passionate advocates in Nepal saw a great need — a platform where people with intellectual disabilities would be accepted with respect and celebration, not hidden away.

Today, Special Olympics Nepal is a vibrant community focused on Unified Sports, Healthy Athletes, and Young Athletes programs, with the goal of reaching all of Nepal.
